This livery design was developed for Mazda Motorsports with JTR Motorsports Engineering for veteran IndyCar & Sportscar racer, James Hinchcliffe. James was selected as a special guest driver to join the Idemitsu MX-5 Cup Series for events 7 & 8 at Watkins Glen in 2023. We had some real fun with this project, since the car was an open canvas sans a primary sponsor. Getting creative, we wanted to pay tribute to James' Canadian roots with a slick Maple Leaf graphic on the hood and large Canadian flag flowing along the sides and to the ear of the car. The livery was very well received in the paddock and quickly given the "Maple Machine" moniker by James himself.
